Flippy Skies Privacy Policy

Version 1.0. Effective date: 26 September 2026.

This document explains what the Flippy Skies game and its website do with your data. The contract of use — what you can do with the game, what is paid for and what is not guaranteed — is a separate document: the Terms of Use.

In a few words

  • Flippy Skies has no ads, does not track you across apps or websites and does not sell data to anyone.
  • You do not need an account with us: we do not ask for your name, email or any other contact details.
  • Your progress is saved on your device and, if you use iCloud, in your iCloud, so that it carries over to your other devices.
  • Usage statistics (GameAnalytics) are only sent if you say yes, and you can turn them off whenever you like.
  • If you use Game Center, your scores appear on the leaderboards and other players can see the ghost of your daily challenge attempts, with your Game Center nickname.
  • Coin purchases are charged by Apple; RevenueCat validates the receipt.

1. Who the controller is

The controller is Somia Digital. You can write to us at hola@somia.digital about any privacy matter. The complete identification details are in the legal notice.

2. Your progress: on your device and in your iCloud

The game saves on your device your high score, your coins, your nest and missions, your wardrobe, your settings (sound, vibration, accessibility, language), your game statistics, the daily challenge (streak and best result) and the “ghost” of your best attempts.

If you are signed in to iCloud, the game keeps a copy of this progress in your iCloud account (Apple’s iCloud Key-Value Store) so that you can recover it on your other devices signed in to the same account. This copy is stored by Apple and can only be read by the game from your devices: we have no access to it and it does not go through any server of ours.

So that no coin is ever counted twice, the copy carries a short code for each device, calculated from the identifier Apple gives the app on that device; it cannot be used to identify you and it does not leave your iCloud.

You can erase all of it in Settings → Erase progress (this also erases the iCloud copy, which starts over) or by deleting the app, and you can stop the game from using iCloud in your device settings (your name → iCloud).

Legal basis: providing you with the game service you use (article 6(1)(b) GDPR).

3. Notifications

If you turn on notifications, the app schedules two game reminders on the device itself: the start of Golden Hour and the daily gift waiting to be collected. They are local: they do not go through any server, ours or anyone else’s, and we do not use push notifications. You can turn them off in Settings → Notifications or in your device settings.

4. Gameplay recordings

If you choose to record a game, the recording is made by iOS (ReplayKit) without the microphone or the camera, and the video stays on your device: the game does not upload it anywhere. You decide whether to save it or share it, and where.

5. Usage statistics (GameAnalytics), only with your consent

The first time you open the game, we ask whether you would like to help us improve it with usage statistics. Until you say yes, nothing is sent (the statistics service is not even started), and if you say no, the game works exactly the same.

If you say yes, the app sends GameAnalytics technical and gameplay data so that we can see how the game is played and improve it (for example, where it is too hard, or whether it crashes or runs slowly):

  • a pseudonymous identifier of the app, randomly generated, or Apple’s identifier for vendors (IDFV), which does not say who you are and cannot be used to track you in other apps;
  • game events: start and end of a game (free play or challenge), score in bands, island, nests, missions, continuing, tutorial and use of coins in the game;
  • the coin purchases you make: the pack, the store price and currency, and where in the game you bought it (section 7);
  • device and performance data: model, system and app version, language, screen size, approximate country, frames per second and errors or crashes.

We do not send your name, email, precise location, contacts or the advertising identifier (IDFA).

Legal basis: your consent (article 6(1)(a) GDPR and, for the identifier stored on the device, article 22(2) of the LSSI-CE). You can withdraw it whenever you like in Settings → Statistics: from that moment on, nothing more is sent. Withdrawing it does not affect what had already been sent before.

Who receives the data. GameAnalytics acts as a processor, on our behalf, and stores the data on cloud servers (Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud). If there are transfers outside the European Economic Area, they are made with the safeguards provided for in the GDPR, such as standard contractual clauses.

6. Game Center: leaderboards, challenges and ghosts (optional)

Game Center is Apple’s gaming service. If you are signed in to it:

  • Leaderboards. The game sends it your scores (high score and daily challenge) and reads the leaderboards from it (the world, your friends — if iOS has asked for your permission and you have said yes — and your position) to show them in the game. Other players see your Game Center nickname there. With each challenge score, a number that identifies your ghost is also saved. Apple may also show the game, the leaderboards and challenges between friends (Challenges and Activities) in the Games app.
  • Daily challenge ghosts. When you finish a challenge game, the game saves the ghost of that attempt (the moments you touched the screen and the bird’s position once per second, with the day and the score) to the game’s public database in iCloud (Apple’s CloudKit). Any Flippy Skies player can download it to compete against it in that day’s challenge, and will see it with your Game Center nickname. The ghost does not carry your name, email or any other contact details; Apple internally associates it with an identifier of your iCloud account that is exclusive to this game, which we cannot link to who you are.
  • How to avoid it or erase it. If you do not want your ghost to be shared, play the challenge without being signed in to Game Center. If you want us to erase one, write to us at hola@somia.digital with your Game Center nickname and the day of the challenge.

Legal basis: providing you with the service you use when you play with Game Center (article 6(1)(b) GDPR). Game Center and iCloud are managed by Apple under its own privacy policy; we do not receive your Apple account or your email. You can sign out of Game Center in your device settings; the game works the same without it.

7. Coin purchases (Apple, RevenueCat and GameAnalytics)

Purchases are charged by Apple through your Apple account: we never see your payment details.

To validate each purchase, deliver your coins, prevent fraud and know how many packs are sold, the app uses RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc., United States), which receives: an anonymous buyer identifier generated by the app, the product purchased, the price, the currency, the date, the country or store, and technical data about the app and the device. It is not linked to your identity. RevenueCat acts as a processor, and the transfer to the United States is made with the safeguards provided for in the GDPR.

Legal basis: performance of the purchase you request (article 6(1)(b) GDPR).

Coins are consumable and are not restored the way permanent purchases are; if you use iCloud, they travel with your progress (section 2). Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

If you have accepted statistics (section 5), each completed purchase is also sent to GameAnalytics: which pack, the store price and currency, and where in the game you bought it. We do not send the purchase identifier, the receipt or any payment details. Like the rest of the statistics, it is tied to the app’s pseudonymous identifier and is only used to know which packs are bought and to improve the shop, never for advertising. If you do not accept statistics or you turn them off, purchases are not sent.

8. Sharing your result

The “Copy result” button only copies a text to the clipboard; you decide where to paste it. The game does not read the clipboard.

9. What we do not do

  • We do not show ads or use any advertising network.
  • We do not track you (tracking as Apple defines it) or ask for permission to do so (App Tracking Transparency).
  • We do not sell or share data with third parties for advertising.
  • We do not use your location, camera, microphone or contacts.

10. The website and the support form

The flippyskies.somia.digital site is static HTML and CSS, with no JavaScript: it sets no cookies, does not use browser storage, loads no third-party scripts or fonts and does no analytics. It is hosted by Netlify, Inc. (United States), which acts as a processor and logs technical access data to operate and protect the service.

On the home page there is a support form. It is the only thing on the site that collects data, and only if you fill it in.

  • What you enter: your email and your message (required) and, if you wish, your name. The form adds the language of the page you send it from, so that we can reply in the same language. You do not need to include any sensitive data.
  • What for: to read your query and reply to it. Nothing else: we do not build mailing lists, we do not send newsletters and we do not use these addresses for anything else.
  • Who stores it: Netlify (Netlify Forms) receives and stores the submission so that we can read it. The transfer to the United States relies on standard contractual clauses.
  • How long: until the query is resolved, and a reasonable time afterwards in case there is a follow-up. Then it is deleted.
  • Legal basis: your consent (article 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you give by sending the form, and our legitimate interest (article 6(1)(f)) in attending to people who write to us and in preventing spam.
  • The form includes a hidden honeypot field for bots, which nobody should fill in.

If you would rather not use the form, you can write to app-support@somiadigital.com with questions about the game. To exercise your privacy rights, write to hola@somia.digital.

11. How long data is kept

  • On your device and in your iCloud: for as long as you have the game or until you use Erase progress. That is up to you.
  • At GameAnalytics: its policy does not set a specific retention period. When the service ends, it deletes or returns the data if we ask it to.
  • Challenge ghosts, in the public CloudKit database: they do not expire on their own. If you want us to erase one, write to us (section 6).
  • At RevenueCat: purchase data, for as long as accounting and tax obligations require.
  • In the support form: until the query is resolved and a reasonable time afterwards.

12. Where the data is processed

Some data may be processed outside the European Economic Area: statistics data (GameAnalytics and its cloud providers), purchase data (RevenueCat, in the United States) and website and form data (Netlify, in the United States). In all cases, with the safeguards of Chapter V of the GDPR, such as standard contractual clauses. Apple processes App Store, iCloud and Game Center data under its own privacy policy.

Flippy Skies does not use Supabase or any server of our own: there is no database of ours with player data.

13. Your rights

You have the right to access your data, rectify it, erase it, restrict its processing or object to it, the right to data portability and the right to withdraw your consent to statistics at any time (Settings → Statistics). To exercise these rights, write to hola@somia.digital. You can also lodge a complaint with the data protection authority of your country (in Spain, the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD), aepd.es).

Because we do not ask you for any contact details, to find your data we will need something that identifies it (for example, your Game Center nickname and the day of the challenge, for a ghost); if there is nothing, we will tell you so (article 11 GDPR). You control the progress on your device and in iCloud directly (section 2).

14. Minors

Flippy Skies is rated 4+ on the App Store, is suitable for all audiences and does not ask for personal data. Statistics are optional and are never used for advertising.

The Terms of Use set a minimum age of 14 to accept them on your own behalf, which is the age from which Spanish law (article 7 of the LOPDGDD) allows a person to consent to the processing of their data. If you are under 14, ask your mother, father or guardian before saying yes to statistics (otherwise, say no: the game works the same). Purchases can be controlled with Apple’s Screen Time and Ask to Buy, and Game Center with Screen Time restrictions. If you are a parent or guardian and want us to erase data, write to us.

15. Security

We do what is reasonable to protect the little that leaves your device: we store no identity, statistics are pseudonymous and optional, and payments do not go through us. No system is infallible, and to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law we are not liable for unauthorised access that is not attributable to us.

16. Changes to this policy

If what the game or the website does changes, this document changes before, not after, and the version and date at the top are updated. If the change is significant, we will also say so in the game.

17. Contact

Write to us at hola@somia.digital. The Catalan version of this document prevails; the others are translations.
